Manual for Integrity v12 :: Getting started

Type your home page address (url) and it will follow all of your internal links to find your pages, checking the server response code for all internal and external links found.

With the free Integrity you can type your starting url into the address bar and press Go.

When you open Integrity Plus and Pro for the first time you can just add your starting url to the default configuration, after that you may like to first press the [+] button below the left-hand pane to add a new site before setting the starting url.

Change the options if you need to. Press Go to start the scan.

Links and Pages

Links will be followed until all of the pages on your site have been discovered. There are no restrictions on number of links or levels, unless you set limits in Preferences > Global > Limit crawl

A page is considered internal if it has the same domain, ie peacockmedia.software. There's a checkbox to choose whether a subdomain should be considered part of the same site, ie is blog.peacockmedia.software the same site as www.peacockmedia.software.

Links are marked in red if they are 'bad', that is if the user isn't going to get the expected page. This typically means a 4xx or 5xx response code (file not found or a server error).

Links are traditionally marked orange if the original url redirects to a different one. Since version 9, there are more things that Integrity can warn you about, such as certain html problems found while scanning. If there are any warnings, including redirects, the link will be coloured orange. If you're not interested in redirected urls, then you can switch this behaviour off in Preferences > Links > Redirects.

Double-click a link (or choose 'Inspect' from the toolbar or View > Info for selected item) to see more detail. From there you can visit the page that the link appears on, see details of warnings and redirects and even see the link highlighted on the page.
